Internships and independent study: Share your plans before going abroad
Students should meet with the Independent Studies coordinator to discuss options.
Document your work and submit upon return: While completing the independent study or internship, be sure to keep documentation of all academic work and keep in touch with the Authorized Faculty member. When you return, you need to submit this documentation to the faculty member in order for transfer credit to be granted.
Credit-bearing seminar: If your internship or service-learning has an associated credit-bearing seminar, you need to seek faculty approval. Examples of associated credit-bearing seminars include IES Abroad SL/IN 395 Internship and Service Learning Seminar; CIEE INSH 3003 Internship.
In the event a student wishes to participate in the IN395 internship, they have the option to replace a course for the internship however, this requires approval. CEA advisors can review and approve.
